Starting Out in Cyber Security
Whatever, wherever, whenever.
Whatever you want to learn, wherever you want to end up, whenever you want to get started, we can provide expert advice on the best possible starting place and route through the training courses.
We'll only ever suggest the courses we genuinely think will support you in what you're trying to achieve.
How does it work? Here's an example.
Have no cyber security background, or want to establish your own confidence levels before you commit to a course?
We'll suggest starting out with one or more of the Essentials training courses: Network Defense, Ethical Hacking, and Digital Forensics. We'll schedule a chat with you once you've completed it to figure out the direction you'd like to go and how you want to make it happen.
The next step will probably be Certified Cybersecurity Technician, giving you a thorough grounding in key areas of cyber security and setting you up in the best possible way for the next courses. Or maybe you'll discover that your skill and confidence levels are a lot higher than you'd originally thought, in which case we can advise on which track (offensive or defensive) would be best for your learning and career goals.
Whatever your end goals are, get in touch and we'll advise you on how to get there.
FAQs
Is your training delivered online or in-person?
It depends on the course. Some (e.g., the Essentials courses) are self-study curricula that you can work through in your own time, from home. With other courses, you'll work through the content yourself, before meeting with our trainer for several days to review the material, cover any sticking points, and work through all the hands-on labs. We prefer the trainer sessions to be in person (at our Glasgow training centre) as we find participants gain the most from this, but we can accommodate virtual attendance if necessary.
What will the training cover?
When we discuss the potential course options with you, we'll share documents outlining the course content, learning goals, and everything else you need to know. There's no rush to make a decision—we want you to be absolutely certain before you commit.
I just want to buy a course... why do I need to talk with you?
Honestly, we'd love to sell you one. We just don't think it's ethical or appropriate to do that without checking your requirements first. You might have seen a course name online and thought 'That sounds great' but you might not know about an alternative course option that would actually give you a better starting point for the career you want to have.
