A: August 2022
Q: Can you describe your role at ID Cyber?
A: No, because I'd have to kill you :-) ... I’m a Cyber Essentials Assessor and I’m also a co-host of ID Cyber Sessions.
Q: How did you end up working in cyber security?
A: After experiencing WannaCry ransomware spreading across a whole organisation and looking into how it was able to spread like it did, I became hooked on security and how simple tweaks to your policies can stop malicious actors in their tracks.
Q: What advice do you have for anyone interested in working in cyber security?
A: Cyber security has many different areas so don’t be put off if you’re not technical. Security teams are made up of many skillsets. Something you have done in a past career will be transferable to cyber security.
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I like drumming (I play with several samba bands around Glasgow), spending time with my family, and going on walks with my dog.
